Car has been smelling strange for months, like stale Indian food. Lately however the windscreen has been covered in an oily film – matrix failures are rare on the 986 but decided to take it apart anyway
Rather than drain the coolant (it was fresh due to failed pipework underneath the car a few months ago) I clamped the tubes and removed the matrix
Pretty nasty.
Managed to source one from a breakers yard, about £95 vs £400+ for a new one from Porsche. All back together and working perfectly so far – replaced the pollen filter while I was at it.
